Telegram scammers

This may not be a true scam as I have yet to determine their true motive.

This is a snip of a chat that I have had a number of times. (I do not recommend engaging with suspected scammers. I only do for educational purposes, either to share here or to enrich my professional life.)

What I have found in the dozen or more encounters with are they portray a Chinese dissent women. As you see the theory that I put forward as to where they were “now” they are most commonly claiming to be in Boston, San Francisco, or Vancouver BC.  After I posted my last two entries, the other side stopped talking to me. I have done this method a couple of times and in each instance they went silent or the account was deleted. The name that they claim to be NEVER matches the account that they are using. Had I not posted as I did, she likely would have had me move to a second account to continue talking.

So far, none of these conversations resulted in seeking money from me. They seemed to be more interested in either harvesting information from me about myself. Due to my day job, I never get specific about myself and I hope that you do not either.

As you will see as you read more of what I share on this site, you will find that anything you share, may bite you in the butt. It may seem innocent, but these bit of information can be added to a database on you causing the data to become valuable for resale in the criminal markets.

This is one that I received this morning. I was not in the mood to play along with them as I was busy. The response that I added is actually a snip that I have saved on my phone specifically to send to them. Notice that they confirmed my suspicion? They went away quietly after this.  I could have likely worked 20-30 dollars worth of BitCoin before they either got tired of me, or before I announced to the chatroom of 300 people that they were part of a Pig Butchering scam(more on that later). I am quickly thrown out of the chat when I do that. They do not want me to scare the herd any further.

If someone you know nothing about is reaching out to you unexpectedly, expect that it is a scam. I wonder was a bit rude to a police officer, he accepted my apology after he provided enough information to convince me that we was real. I was a bit snarky before. (whoops)
